At SERVE we pride ourselves on our relationship building efforts. So, to better our relationship with you (our Facebook friends/blog followers/website perusers), I want to take a minute and put a face and a background behind our communications team.
My name is Brittany Baughman (you will never be quizzed on correct pronunciation of my last name). I am Serve Moses Lake’s Director of Communications since January 2016.
A little about myself. I grew up in Ohio and moved to Indiana in 2003 to attend Bethel College. At Bethel, I majored in Studio Art and graduated with my BA in 2006. Since then I have worked in several social service positions as well as in graphic design.
My husband (Matt Baughman) and I moved to Moses Lake about 7 years ago for Matt to take a position as Pastor of Lakeview Missionary Church. We LOVE our church family and the opportunity to serve our community. I was immediately drawn to the ministry of SERVE since we very first moved to town. In 2009 I began volunteering at the SERVE office, until a full-time employment opportunity at the Housing Authority changed my availability. In 2010, shortly after beginning at the Housing Authority, I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for SERVE.
In 2015, I made the decision to step away from full time employment in favor of being home with my young daughter. It was not long after my “retirement” that Tim Cloyd (Director of Serve Moses Lake) approached me about a part-time position to assist with SERVE’s communication to the community. Tim believed that there were so many great stories and amazing things happening in and around SERVE and that people needed more opportunity to hear about the ways God was moving. I quickly said ‘yes’ and have been thoroughly enjoying my work ever since!
I love talking with people involved in the ministry, hearing the stories of how lives have been changed, and having the opportunity to share those things with you. I enjoy using my love for design to bring you an improved website and other printed materials.
Additionally, I would love to hear from you! Let me know what you would like to hear more about. Are there questions you have about what SERVE does? Are you interested in joining our journey? Thank you so much for being a supporter of the work we are doing. I appreciate you and look forward to meeting everyone in person.
